I had considered the serial novel route, but as I mapped the novel out, it started to become huge. Therefore, I decided to just make it a series...which I suppose is the bastard cousin on the serial novel.

Good luck with your darlings.

The changes in publishing right now are happening so fast it's a little scary, and a little saddening sometimes. I would definitely agree, though, serialization looks once again to be the best way to reach readers for a lot of authors right now. How exactly to go about monetizing this remains to be seen, but, in my own experience, just getting the story out there is the important part. Making money isn't my chief concern with my writing right now. That's why I have a day-job.

We'll see how all of this plays out in the coming months.

"Readers who are just consumers of the knowledge do not worry about how the content reaches them, as long as it is within their reach."

This is so true. I just recently come to realize this same thing. I had the brilliant idea that I should get some audio books from the library, load them onto itunes and listen to books while I'm working out. I've always been opposed to audio books for no real reason, I realize. Because it's still fiction and that's what matters to me. The story.

On the flip side, I also wonder what this means for the future for writers and publishers. And also what it means for a librarian. As a hopeful future librarian, I'm hesitant to spend $50,000+ in an education for a dying career.
